Driftwood Sculpture - The Crocodile
A sculpture of a Crocodile using driftwood as the primary material. Other materials used for this sculpture are tree bark, bone shards, acorn shells, deer antler, and yellow quartz eyes.
HEIGHT 3.5"/LENGTH 20"
The base piece of driftwood that started the crocodile starts from the hip area all the way to the end of it's mouth, and includes the one raised arm. I then added the 3 other legs, and plated them with acorns to resemble crocodile scales. It's tail is 2 pieces, the first half from the hip area is driftwood and the end piece is deer antler. The claws and teeth are made with bone shards. There is bark added on the back or spine to give more of a crocodile skin texture. I then finished the piece with golden quartz eyes. Some paint staining was added for color matching and highlights. It was a long process from start to finish, taking about 3 months to gather all the right parts, assemble, and add the finishing touches. As with all my sculptures, prior to assembly, all parts go through a cleaning and heat treatment process. The final product is lightly coated with a sealant.
